PTI leader Shandana Gulzar has been summoned by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) over allegations of making defamatory remarks against Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The FIA’s Cyber Crime Circle in Lahore called Gulzar for questioning on March 14, citing accusations of defaming state and government figures and inciting rebellion through her social media posts.
Gulzar is accused of implicating CM Maryam in an audio leak scandal involving a deceased PTI worker named Zille Shah. These accusations were lodged by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) activist Shoaib Mirza, who alleged Gulzar’s involvement in defamatory activities against government officials and institutions.
The FIA has acknowledged these allegations and will question Gulzar to conduct further inquiries into the matter.
Previously, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari commented on the case, stating that safeguarding the sanctity of the assembly was the responsibility of every member. She criticized Gulzar’s actions, labeling them as insults to Pakistan and the political tactics of PTI’s “political vultures.”
Bokhari demanded evidence supporting Gulzar’s allegations against CM Maryam and emphasized that politicizing tragic events should cease. She highlighted the submission of an application for the registration of an FIR against Gulzar, emphasizing that neither the “woman card” nor the “political card” would be tolerated.
The minister further demanded that Gulzar provide evidence of the alleged audio implicating Maryam.
