Punjab's Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative called the "Chief Minister Roshan Gharana" program, aimed at distributing 50,000 solar systems across the province.
During a meeting focused on solar home solutions, she emphasized the critical importance of initiating the installation of one-kilowatt solar systems and advocated for the adoption of the latest solar technology.
With a substantial budget of Rs 12.6 billion allocated for the program's first phase, it aims to provide solar systems to 50,000 selected consumers who utilize up to 100 units of electricity per month. The selection process will be conducted randomly. These solar systems will comprise advanced solar panels, inverters, batteries, and other essential components.
The meeting witnessed the participation of several high-ranking officials, including Provincial Information Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari, Former Senator Pervaiz Rashid, MPA Sania Ashiq, Chief Secretary, Chairman Planning and Development, Secretaries of Energy and Finance, Chief Executive Officer of Punjab Power Development Company (PPDCL), Managing Director of Punjab Power Development Board (PPDB), among others.
In her inaugural address as Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz outlined her vision for the next five years, with a strong focus on creating employment opportunities, enhancing education standards, and improving healthcare services for the people of Punjab.
